A Big Warm Hearted Thanks!
by bigwilly into those here that mad me feel welcome upon my recent return, i feel a bit like the prodigal son (poor analogy).. after making this my first board over a year ago, i have meandered the exdub cyber community and made many good friends as well as meeting some truly amazing people.
i feel i've established myself amongst the discussion boards and earned a reputation of sorts (hopefully positive).
i have always checked in here, tho sporatically, and recent board politics and accessability have led me back here.

May this day bring you joy and peace.
May you treasure the moments you have with those you love.
May you be comforted by the memories of past loves, regretting nothing.
May you be excited by the idea of future loves, expecting nothing.
May you be embraced by this life and all the love it has to offer.
May you know from the tips of your toes to the top of your head that you are loved.

The Delusion of Certitude
by IsaacJS2 inthe delusion of certitude pt 1. and how we, the "the lost sheep," help them maintain it.
no one has enough information about the universe to truly know if they have "the truth.
" to me, anyone who claims to have the absolute, ultimate truth of everything is literally claiming to have absolute knowledge.

Great articles Isaac! Your commentary is right on. When someone they know leaves the org, the current JW must do mental gymnastics to hold on to their certitude. It is cognitive dissonance to the extreme. No wonder there's so much mental and emotional illness among them. Trying to hold onto "The Truth" while seeing others they know and love reject it and live normal and happy lives, is enough to make their heads explode. And yet, they will not give it up. To do so means a death to their ego. Not a death many are willing to undergo.

My Bethel Experience part 13
by new boy inmost of us went back to bethel, thinking we wanted to make it our life long career......what better place to be right before 1975?.............that dream ended for the vast majority after just few months there, when they found out that something was very wrong.
other wise why would anyone want to leave a spiritual paradice?....
with only 2-5% staying after there 4 year commitment, and a very big percentage leaving before there time was even up.

"Bethel tours were nice..............But most of time they were very sad.........You would see these great looking sisters go through on tour...............They would give you "the eye"...........You would give them "the eye"..........Then they would get on the bus and leave............No way to meet them."
It's funny how things have changed. When I went on Bethel tours, those Bethelite dogs were quick to get my mailing address. I'd get a few letters but then the "talk" would come down from Headquarters that the good ole Bethel boys shouldn't "lead on" the sisters who come for tours. And that was the end of that.
I told this joke on gabbly the other night and thought this is a good thread to put it on:
A jw mother wants to know what kind of man her infant son will grow up to be. An elder comes over and gets down on the floor with the infant and places a Bible, a beer bottle and a Barbie doll in front of the baby, saying to the mother, "What he chooses to play with will tell us the kind of man he'll be. If he chooses the Bible, he'll be a spiritual man. If he chooses the beer bottle, he'll be an alcoholic. If he chooses the Barbie doll, he'll be a womanizer."
The mom says, "What if he chooses all three?"
The elder says, "Well then, he'll be a Bethelite!"

Judge's Decision on JWs Stir Up Jews
by Kenneson ina judge in israel has ruled that the haifa convention center must rent space to jehovah's witnesses because it offers its goods and service to the public.
it cannot discriminate because of religious beliefs.
the ruling has been ratified by the attorney general's office.

The comments on that story are just scary. A whole lot of pot calling kettle stuff happening. Makes me feel sick. And makes me feel more and more inclined to agree with Harris and Dawkins and their comments on what religious faith is doing to our planet. *sigh*

Need Some Education On EVOLUTION? Start Here! Perry & Axal take note!
by Seeker4 inperry started a thread on evolution/atheism, which from his very first post showed an incredible ignorance of evolution and natural selection.
axal's comments on the thread were just asinine - how all the atheists in his area were at the strip clubs fighting over women and fornicating!
i have to say that i live in a small town and have been here for half a century, and i couldn't name five people that i know here who are atheist.

With all due respect Apostate Kate, I don't see the relevance of posting a list of people who believe in creation. How does this make your belief more accurate?

Hey Folks
by KW13 inits been a little while since i last posted, just wanted to update you all on my life.. some of you may have read one of my other most recent posts - my gf is pregnant and imma be a dad!
got into the whole jw thing the other night with ma' again, had some deep discussions and got nowhere but now instead of finding answers or excuses she just tells me she is happy with her faith, in that case i think now i have come to a good position where i can make a mature decision - if she is truly happy then she can stick with her dubs without her son pestering her at every opportunity but unless either a very good chance comes up or she asks about something i won't bring it up.. hopefully all you apostates are behaving .
tata.
